Kwadacha Nation (Tsek?ene) is commonly known as Fort Ware and is located approximately 570 km north of Prince George, at the confluence of the Fox, Kwadacha, and Finlay rivers in the Rocky Mountain Trench. *Responsibilities*
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Finance is responsible for managing the finance team and overseeing all financial activities, including reporting on revenue, budgeting, disbursing funds to departments, managing risk, and improving financial processes. The Director of Finance will provide leadership and management of all financial aspects for Kwadacha Nation.
* Oversee and lead the day-to-day management of the finance team and all financial administration.
* Evaluate proposed capital expenditures, prepare financial data for proposals/applications, and analyze financial viability of new ventures.
* Ensure that the financial administration systems, policies, directions and internal controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively.
* Perform regular financial analysis, reviewing the accuracy of all financial accounts and developing budgets that meet the requirements of departments.
* Prepare detailed reports on the Nation?s financial performance, recognizing patterns in spending and revenue, and recommending solutions to any problem areas.
* Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the Nation, negotiate bank financing and supervise all audit and internal control processes.
* Monitor and reconcile accounts monthly, ensure there is follow-up on outstanding receivables.
* Offer guidance and advice to fellow leaders, the Chief Administrative Officer, and Chief and Council to encourage informed decision making.
* Build capacity and develop skills around financial management and processes across the Nation.
* Develop and implement new processes or procedures that will help improve efficiency, reduce costs, or otherwise streamline the flow of support to the Nation.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
*Qualifications*
* Canadian Accounting Designation (CPA or CAFM) member in good standing or in the final stages of completing designation.
* Accounting-related post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Demonstrated and thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Sector Accounting and Auditing standards (PSAS).
* Minimum of five (5) years? experience in a mid-level or senior accounting finance function.
* Experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity of an accounting/finance team.
* Experience regarding the establishment of financial reporting systems on a complete and timely basis.
* Detailed-orientated, with the ability to analyze and reconcile accounts.
* Extensive knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliation, budgets, and general ledger processing.
* Excellent competency in the preparation of financial statements and analysis.
* Possesses strong leadership, management, and strategic planning skills.
* Excellent time management, organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
* Advanced user of accounting software such as Adagio, Sage Intacct, or a similar system.
