*Position Summary*
In the position of Crewing Specialist, you will coordinate with the Operations office staff as well as the Human Resources department. Your core responsibility will be to lead the safe and effective deployment of crew members for a three (3) ship fleet.
*Main Duties and Responsibilities*
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Overseeing the deployment of crew members to vessels, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and company policies
* Book travel for all crew members and ensure crew readiness for work
* Member of the company?s training committee for developing and maintaining training programs and policies, maintenance of the internal pilotage training program.
* Coordinating training programs to ensure crew members are adequately prepared for their roles and meet safety and operational standards
* Ensure that all crew members hold the necessary certifications and licenses as required by regulations and the company
* In collaboration with the Human Resources department, assist in recruitment/crewing and employee engagement initiatives, including presenting to cadets, participating in interviews for all personnel, and develop internal initiatives for ensuring a high level of morale and general employee engagement onboard the vessels
*Minimum Qualifications*
* Relevant experience in crew management, maritime operations is essential
* Knowledge of domestic maritime regulations
* Knowledge and relevant experience in managing Great lakes Pilotage training program
* Strong verbal and written communications skills
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
* Knowledge of the Great Lakes shipping area and related trading patterns
* Marine-based diploma or certification an asset
* Bilingualism and asset
* Experience in a unionized environment and understanding of collective bargaining an asset
