Job details
The Construction Safety Officer (CSO) for our *Roofing Contracting Company* will monitor the Health and Safety Program of our company to ensure compliance, address any issues, and implement solutions in alignment with Mack Kirk?s and WorkSafe BC safety standards. The CSO will work directly with Management, Site Superintendents, relevant trades, clients, subcontractors, and all employees.
_Responsibilities:_
* Ensure compliance with current Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Company?s safety rules.
* Facilitate and participate in site inspections, documentation and developing corrective action as required.
* Liaise with Site Superintendents daily on health and safety related matters and educate and guide them on safety best practices.
* Assist with site safety plans, pre-job hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments, as required.
* Ensure that all accidents, incidents, and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties.
* Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation for site safety records (investigations, injuries, incidents, near misses).
* Facilitate health and safety toolbox meetings.
* Conduct health and safety orientations for all new workers.
* Maintain and prepare thorough documentation and reports.
* Assist with developing first aid and emergency rescue plans.
* Participate in emergency response and mock-rescue drills.
* Manage first aid documentation, as necessary.
* Provide In-house training for Fall Protection and other.
* Regular participation in site planning and trade meetings.
* Additional duties and tasks as required.
_Knowledge and Skills:_
* Strong communication, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
* Excellent knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, standards and policies
* Proficient with computer programs such as Word, Excel and MS Outlook
* Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures to ensure that Company?s Health and Safety standards are met
* Demonstrated ability to manage detailed and accurate health and safety records
_Qualifications / Experience:_
* Minimum 5 years of experience in construction site safety role, preferably in the roofing trade
* Construction Safety Officer certification or equivalent
* Valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 certificate
* Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards
* Valid BC Driver?s Licence
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
