People like you!This is skilled, routine truck driving work, involving the operation of vehicles which may vary in type, power, and size but in general range up to but not including vehicles of gross vehicle weight of 24,000 lbs. and will include dump, panel, and flat-deck bodies. Work includes loading, transporting and unloading personnel, materials, tools and equipment, etc., under varying traffic and field conditions. Under general supervision of a Foreman who allots assignments orally or in writing and makes periodic work progress checks. Routine or repetitive tasks are performed with little direct supervision while special, unusual or initial assignments receive closer supervision. May supervise and assist one or more subordinates engaged in unskilled or semi-skilled construction and maintenance tasks. Performs other related work as required.Qualifications include up to high school graduation. Working knowledge of the proper methods used in loading, transporting, and unloading of equipment and materials. Good knowledge of municipal street layout and related departmental operations. Sufficient education to be able to effectively understand oral and written instructions. Thorough knowledge of the rules of safe operation and precautions to be taken to avoid accidents in the operation of light to medium weight vehicles and attached or auxiliary equipment. Ability to: operate light or medium sized vehicles safely and efficiently under difficult driving conditions; and to perform minor servicing tasks on same; write simple records and reports; supervise one or more subordinates performing unskilled and semi-skilled construction and maintenance tasks. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. A valid Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia and any certificates necessary for the vehicle being operated are required.
