If so, this position may be the ideal fit for you!Temporary part-time positions are available in the Niagara region.Time frame: School Calendar Year (September to June) with an option to renew.Job Summary: The School Nurse is responsible for supporting medically fragile children and their families in the community. As a School Nurse, you will provide complex pediatric nursing care within a school setting and at times before and after school in the child's home. The successful candidate will work throughout the school calendar year except on all school holidays and PD days.Candidates with pediatric experience are preferred. Key Responsibilities: Maintain accurate client clinical recordsCommunicates and participates as full member of the health care teamProvide leadership in own professional developmentParticipate in CNO Reflective PracticeKnowledge of VON policies and proceduresProvide clinical leadershipOther duties as assignedExternal and Internal Relationships: Engages regularly with clients, their families and caregivers.Provides education and support to engage clients and families in independenceParticipates actively with other healthcare professional organizations and the community to promote nursing best practicesEducation, Designations and Experience: Registered with the College of Nurses of OntarioCurrent CPR and First Aid certification will be requestedExperience working with pediatric clients is preferredExperience in community health an asset.Skill Requirements: Knowledge of community resources an assetExcellent assessment, teaching, problem solving and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to adapt nursing practice to operating independently in a variety of situationsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary teamOther: Must have personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insuranceA current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records CheckA Vulnerable Sector Search and/or a Child Abuse Registry Check may be requiredThe use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be requiredWorking conditions and physical demands: This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
