Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Maintain inventories of medications and pharmaceutical products. Repair, build and modify prosthetic or orthotic appliances or footwear. Supervise and direct activities of other medical technologists or technicians. Assemble or build prosthetic and orthotic appliances according to drawings, measurements and plaster casts. Plan menus and diet for individuals or groups under direction of dietition or nutritionist. Reassemble equipment and assemble packs of sterile supplies and instruments for delivery to hospital departments. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices. Advise patients in the use and care of prostheses and orthoses. Maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products. Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation. Remove organs and tissue specimens from bodies in morgue as directed by pathologist. Assist dietitians with research in food, nutrition and food service systems. Connect treatment machines to patients, as directed by chiropractor. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments. Consult with ophthalmologists concerning insertion of ocular prostheses. Experience: 1 to less than 7 months.
