That vision is articulated in Kimberley?s Official Community Plan (OCP) which informs and guides the City of Kimberley?s decision-making processes.The City of Kimberley?s Planning and Sustainability Department is responsible for developing and implementing strategies, policies, and regulations to guide community growth and development - so that we keep aligned with our community?s vision for the future, as outlined in the OCP.Position OverviewReporting to the Manager of Planning and Sustainability, the Senior Planner supports the department by leading the planning and coordination of long-range planning and sustainability initiatives; researching, drafting and implementing bylaws, policies, programs and plans; conducting research, engagement and analysis relating to departmental and corporate priorities; and providing professional and technical advice to customers inside and outside the organization. The Senior Planner also supports the department?s review of land use and development proposals, reports and recommendation to ensure alignment with long range planning and sustainability policies and objectives.This is an exempt supervisory position. The Senior Planner is an effective leader, self- motivated to achieve exceptional results, has the ability to build positive internal and external relations, and has excellent communication, organizational and problem- solving skills.QualificationsApplicants must have an undergraduate degree in planning, geography, environment, or related discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility in planning- related disciplines, including project management and supervisory roles, preferably in a local or regional government setting. A valid Class 5 driver?s license is also required. Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Planners is required. Additional InformationThis is a salaried position, based on a 37.5-hour work week, and relocation assistance may be provided to the successful applicant.
