We are looking for a skilled *Manual* *Machinist* to operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. You will produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements. *Job duties* Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including a manual lathe to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, drilling, precision grinding and other operations Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, Vernier's, callipers, height gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM) or other specialized measuring instruments Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor Keep records of approved and defective units or final products Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages Identify and report identified hazard and fulfill all Health & Safety, WHMIS, MSDS, and GMP requirements Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes All other duties as assigned *Requirements and skills* Proven experience as manual machinist Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.) Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $26.00-$33.00 per hour Benefits: * Casual dress * Extended health care * On-site parking * RRSP match * Vision care Flexible language requirement: * French not required Schedule: * 8 hour shift * Day shift * Monday to Friday * Overtime Ability to commute/relocate: * North York, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Experience: * machinist: 2 years (preferred) Work Location: In person
