Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Confined spaces. Noisy. Dusty. Outdoors. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Commercial. Residential. Level of expertise: Maintenance and repair. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Personal protective equipment (PPE) training. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Work with minimal supervision. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Judgement. Reliability. Team player. Values and ethics. Punctuality.
