<p><span>We are looking for a senior legal counsel – litigation & employment who will report to the Director, legal services – litigation & employment. This position will be based at our Valcourt, Québec headquarters. In this role, you will be tasked with handling litigation matters, such as product liability and product quality lawsuits, commercial disputes, class actions and intellectual property cases. In addition, you will provide assistance to the labor and employment law team in supporting the HR functions globally.</span></p> <p><strong>YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:</strong></p> <ul> <li><span>Handle complex litigation cases from inception to conclusion in jurisdictions around the world.</span></li> <li><span>Assist outside attorneys in developing litigation strategies, preparing witnesses, assessing litigation risks and attending mediation and trial.</span></li> <li><span>Have an active role in protecting and defending BRP’ interests, making strategic litigation decisions and managing risks.</span></li> <li><span>Assist the labor & employment team in supporting the human resources function with all legal needs, including drafting agreements and policies, advising on legal compliance and risks and managing labor relations and employment issues.</span></li> <li><span>Support the Director, legal services, litigation and employment with the preparation of reports and presentations to various stakeholders including management, insurers and auditors.</span></li> <li><span>Participate in the legal department's efforts to educate BRP’s staff on good business practices to reduce and mitigate legal risks and provide support to other members of the legal department, as needed.</span></li> </ul> <p><strong>YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:</strong></p> <ul> <li><span>6 to 8 years’ experience as an in-house legal counsel or as a lawyer in a private law firm – we remain however open to profiles that may be more junior or more senior than specified, in which case the title and responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly.</span></li> <li><span>Experience in litigation, including product liability and commercial cases. Experience with U.S. legal system is a plus.</span></li> <li><span>Experience in labor & employment law, in both unionized and non-unionized work environments.</span></li> <li><span>Strong strategic skills and ability to lead complex litigation matters with a clear vision of risks and opportunities.</span></li> <li><span>The person shows curiousness, discipline, autonomy and initiative in his or her work.</span></li> <li><span>The person is also good at managing pressure and is excellent at prioritizing work.</span></li> <li><span>Impactful verbal communication skills and ability to work across every level of an organization and to relate effectively with executives and operational teams.</span></li> </ul> <p></p> <p><strong>ACKNOWLEDGING THE POWER OF DIVERSITY</strong><b></b></p> <p><span>BRP is dedicated to nurturing a culture that invites, connects, and propels the ambitions of people of all backgrounds, profiles, beliefs and experiences.
