CNC (computer numerical control) machinist

Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Tasks: Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations. Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards. Assist machine operators or assemblers in manufacturing process. Clean and maintain work space. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery. Make adjustments necessary to ensure the smooth running of processes. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Calibre. Verniers. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Boring machines. Drill presses. Engine lathes. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks. Physically demanding. Standing for extended periods. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
