Responsibilities
Tasks

Coordinate patient care
-
Evaluate patient care and progress
-
Order medical diagnostic or clinical tests

Perform Holter/loop event scanning to produce an interpreted report for the physician

Train technicians, assistants, students or interns
-
Monitor vital signs during cardiopulmonary surgery

Examine patients and take their medical histories and consult with physicians and other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health

Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures

Conduct patient interviews, physical assessments and take medical histories

Participate in research related to cardiac and pulmonary disorders
-
Perform cardiac and cardiopulmonary stress tests

Prepare medications and administer inhaler and other treatments under supervision of cardiologist

Provide information and care for patients during tests

Certificate of Registry from the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists - R.R.T.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certificate
