*Overview*:
The Cranbrook Curling Club is a vibrant and growing non-profit society located in the beautiful town of Cranbrook, BC. The General Manager is the most senior manager in the organization that reports to and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to support the implementation of the Society?s Strategic Plan and Goals. This is a 12 month/ year position with emphasis on the curling season (September to May). In addition to the day-to-day oversight of operations and club staff/volunteers, the General Manager is the face of the curling club and must regularly engage with its members and the public to develop its curlers and promote the club. In addition, the General Manager must develop strategies to optimize the year-round use of the curling centre. This is especially important during the curling offseason.
*Working Conditions:*
* The successful candidate will be provided with an office at the curling club.
* During the curling season (approximately September to May) working hours will be 40 hours or more per week (depending on club operations and events). Weekend work will be required.
* During the offseason, hours will be 25 hours per week and more flexible. Weekend work may be required.
* Opportunity to conduct a portion of work from home both during the curling season and during the offseason.
*Essential Qualifications*:
To be considered for the role, the successful candidate must have the following qualifications
* 2 years managerial experience.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
* Must have a solid understanding of the sport of Curling or be willing to learn about Curling.
* Must have or be willing to become ?Serving It Right? certified.
* Must have or be willing to become ?Food Safe? certified.
* Must have or be willing to get a First Aid Certificate.
* Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
*Asset Qualifications*:
These qualifications are not required but may be used to select the strongest candidate.
* Business Management Certificate.
* 5+ years managerial experience.
* Experience in coaching or curler development.
* Willing to become a certified curling coach.
* Experience in marketing or business development.
* Experience with the bookkeeping software Sage 50.
*Responsibilities*:
* Create and report on operational plans, including but not limited to the Society?s Strategic Areas of Focus.
* Marketing and promoting the club and the sport of curling in Cranbrook in all types of media including but not limited to online, via email newsletters, and social media.
* Coordinate and oversee the development of curlers, including leading the learn-to-curl and junior curler programs.
* Organize and coordinate coaching clinics or curling development events for members.
* Primary oversight for all curling-related events. Ensuring coordination of other club staff and volunteers for those events.
* Ensure safe operation of the curling centre including obtaining and maintaining all licenses/permits/insurance needed for operation.
* Coordinate and oversee all fundraising initiatives including grants, 50/50s, raffles, sponsorships, and advertisements.
* Operating and maintaining a registration system for the membership.
* Oversee the scheduling of all events in the club.
* Ensure The Cranbrook Curling Club?s office is open and accessible during publicized hours.
* Ensure The Cranbrook Curling Club is represented with relevant regional and provincial organizations, such as Curl BC and other curling clubs
* Facilitate and promote the use of the curling club facility year-round by third parties who have or may book the space, taking all reasonable actions necessary to ensure user groups and individuals have a positive experience.
* Recruiting, motivating and managing other staff including performance evaluation.
* Recruiting, motivating, and managing volunteers for the club.
* Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers to ensure coverage in the event of staff s
