Our client is a privately-owned, multinational corporation recognized globally for its leadership in designing, manufacturing, and distributing specialized equipment for the construction industry. Their large-scale electromechanical machinery is custom-engineered for each project. The company?s North American operations are led by a skilled Engineering team based in Toronto, consisting of approximately 30 professionals. To enhance their capabilities, they are seeking an experienced *Electrical Engineer* to join their team.
We are searching for an *Intermediate Electrical Engineer* with strong communication skills, a willingness to travel, and the ability to work in diverse environments?including office settings, customer sites, and subcontractor facilities. This role demands a well-rounded understanding of engineering fundamentals, the ability to develop concept designs that adhere to customer specifications, and the expertise to follow projects through to production-level documentation and beyond.
This position involves a combination of hands-on work and design responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who is equally comfortable creating electrical schematics, selecting components, sizing panels, programming PLCs, and troubleshooting.
You?ll work with a variety of components, such as gear motors, actuators, hydraulic systems, wireless controls, and PLC systems, as part of custom-engineered solutions. Collaboration is key in this role as you?ll work closely with Project Managers, senior engineers, and business development teams to deliver safe, budget-conscious designs that meet customer needs.
*Responsibilities*
* Design and develop electrical systems, including schematics, control systems, and panel layouts.
* Lead R&D initiatives in hardware, software, automation, and new technology integration.
* Draft, review, and approve design documentation, including electrical schematics and production drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
* Program and troubleshoot Schneider and Allen Bradley PLCs.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project designs meet specifications and budgets.
* Create technical documentation, such as RFQ documents, scope of work, and installation standards.
* Provide technical support to sales and business development teams during proposal and estimation phases.
* Mentor junior engineers and technologists, while providing hands-on support during field installations.
* Lead the development and execution of testing procedures, ensuring designs meet regulatory and safety standards.
* Travel (up to 25%) to customer sites for reviews, surveys, and in-field troubleshooting.
*Qualifications*
* *Education:* Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution.
* *Experience:*
* 5+ years of North American electrical engineering experience in machine design or custom industrial projects.
* 10+ years of overall professional experience in the field.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, PLC programming (Schneider/Allen Bradley).
* Strong knowledge of Canadian/US electrical codes and standards.
* A mix of design expertise and hands-on fieldwork experience.
