<p><strong><span>Company Overview:</span></strong><span><br> We are a dynamic and growing organization with operations across Canada and the United States. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on <strong>Financial Controller</strong> to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing our financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency in a fast-paced, evolving environment.</span></p><p><strong><span>Key Responsibilities:</span></strong></p><ul><li><strong><span>Accounting Oversight:</span></strong></li><ul><li><span>Lead and manage all accounting operations, including but not limited to all month end closing activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis.</span></li><li><span>Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings and reporting to support all internal and external stakeholders (management, banks and lenders and private equity sponsor).</span></li></ul><li><strong><span>Audit & Compliance:</span></strong></li><ul><li><span>Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring thorough preparation and a smooth audit process.</span></li><li><span>Oversee tax reporting and compliance for operations in both Canada and the U.S., ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.</span></li></ul><li><strong><span>Banking & Financial Management:</span></strong></li><ul><li><span>Manage weekly or monthly preparation and submission of bank borrowing bases, monthly covenant compliance reporting, and relationships with financial institutions.</span></li><li><span>Monitor and optimize cash flow, including intercompany transactions and transfers.</span></li></ul><li><strong><span>Process Improvement & Team Leadership:</span></strong></li><ul><li><span>Implement structured processes and disciplines to meet deadlines and improve accuracy; including documentation of accounting processes and SOWs.</span></li><li><span>Manage and mentor a team, including remote employees, fostering collaboration and accountability.</span></li></ul><li><strong><span>Strategic Contributions:</span></strong></li><ul><li><span>Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to support organizational growth.</span></li><li><span>Partner with leadership to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights for decision-making.</span></li></ul></ul> <br> <p><strong><span>Qualifications & Experience:</span></strong></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, (CPA or related Canadian designation strongly preferred).</span></li><li><span>Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including a track record of hands-on leadership.</span></li><li><span>Demonstrated expertise in financial accounting and reporting, audit processes and partnership and U.S. and Canadian tax regulations reporting.</span></li><li><span>Strong understanding of banking relationships, borrowing bases, and covenant management.</span></li><li><span>Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, namely Microsoft Dynamics ; advanced Excel and Power BI skills are necessary.</span></li></ul><p><strong><span>Personality Traits & Soft Skills:</span></strong></p><ul><li><strong><span>Strong Communication:</span></strong><span> Able to convey complex financial information clearly to diverse stakeholders.</span></li><li><strong><span>Level-Headed Thinker:</span></strong><span> Maintains composure under pressure and effectively navigates challenges.</span></li><li><strong><span>Solutions-Oriented Decision Maker:</span></strong><span> Approaches problems with a proactive mindset and develops practical solutions.</span></li><li><strong><span>Embraces Change:</span></strong><span> Thrives in dynamic environments and adapts to shifting priorities with ease.</span></li><li><strong><span>Emotionally Balanced:</span></strong><span> Maintains professionalism and objectivity, fostering a stable and productive team environment.</span></li>
