We are hiring! Corvidae is looking for an *Intermediate Biologist* to join our fast paced, dynamic team on Vancouver Island.
Who are we? We are a leading environmental consulting firm that specializes in navigating complex regulatory landscapes with a focus on environmental stewardship. We specialize in a solution focused approach to working with clients and regulators, to coordinate projects and meet environmental objectives. Our goal is to provide project recommendations and solutions that meet or exceed federal, provincial, and local environmental standards, while minimizing impacts and help clients achieve their objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct field surveys and assessments of biophysical features.
· Assist clients navigate the Riparian Areas Protection Regulations (RAPR) for the protection of riparian zones (waterfront and surrounding areas).
· Strong technical writing skills to generate clear and concise reports.
· Consult with clients and government for environmental assessments.
· Provide practical solutions to balance development with environmental protection in compliance with local, provincial and federal acts, bylaws and regulations.
· Represent Corvidae's core values of environment, integrity and respect when working with clients, landowners and team members, even in challenging scenarios
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum *SEVEN years* in environmental consulting, specifically with biophysical programs, land development, or similar fields.
· Registered Professional Biologist (R.P. Bio.) designation, or qualified to obtain it.
· Strong understanding of BC environmental regulations and municipal and development permit applications.
· The Riparian Areas Protection Regulation course is considered an asset .
· Experience in wildlife, aquatic and vegetation surveys. Environmental assessment experience.
· Ability to interpret mapping and/or construction drawings, conduct assessments in the field, and manage reports.
· Masters degree in biology, soil science, or environmental science is considered an asset.
Position Features:
Location: Based out of Victoria, BC, with work predominantly across Southern and Eastern Vancouver Island.
Type: Full-time, Permanent position with an immediate start.
