We seek to constantly learn, evolve and adapt our practice to the changing needs of our community, seeking always to identify and remove barriers to service.Who we are looking for:Reporting to the Manager of Programs and Community Development the Programming and Community Development Librarian is accountable for the development and delivery of branch and community programs and services for all ages. Functioning in a team environment, the Programming and Community Development Librarian will provide and support program planning and implementation, information and reference services, reader?s advisory and digital assistance and collection development. They will ensure the strategic goals of New Westminster Public Library are met through outreach initiatives and delivery of their portfolio assignments through training, coaching and supporting library staff delivering programs, fostering community development and conducting outreach. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Community Programming & Outreach Assesses and evaluates community needs and opportunities in the development of programs and services that align with the organization?s strategic goals; Designs and delivers programs that augment awareness of the collection and services of the library for implementation at branches or within the community; Continually measures and evaluates the effectiveness of programs and outreach campaigns, making recommendations to the Manager of Programs and Community Development; Liaises with relevant community organizations and groups to build and maintain a network of community contacts; Coordinates and implements outreach campaigns to educational institutions, businesses and other organizations; Uses outreach opportunities to engage customers in library membership and positions the library as a trusted community development partner; Works well with others, ensuring awareness of the library?s programs, through print and online promotions; Facilitates a welcoming environment for community volunteers assisting with programming and/or outreach.2. Customer Service and Access Models and provides service excellence in all interactions with the public; Communicates effectively with a variety of audiences and individuals from diverse backgrounds; Provides readers? advisory, reference, library orientation, customer service, research support and membership updates; Leads projects related to programs, services and events, as required; Develops and presents group or individual instruction in the use of library services, collections and related technologies; May update and maintain content on the library website and social media.
