*Summary*
The Mechanical Technologist will assist in the development and production of construction drawings utilizing REVIT and AutoCAD. The successful individual will have in-depth working knowledge and understanding of the construction industry, building systems, national, provincial, and local building codes, and by-laws.
*Key Responsibilities*
- Create engineering drawings for process and industrial building mechanical systems (plumbing, piping, HVAC, refrigeration) using computer-aided-design (CAD) and building-information-modeling (BIM) software.
- Preparation and review of contract administration documentation.
- Generate CAD and REVIT content to advance company standards.
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, project managers, and trades to ensure client satisfaction and the achievement of project deliverables as required.
- Perform site visits to assess existing conditions of mechanical systems.
- Select appropriate mechanical equipment and plumbing fixtures as required for each project design including the sizing of piping and HVAC systems.
- Provide written reports and logs as required.
*Essential Skills and Qualifications*
- Intermediate user of current versions of AutoCAD and REVIT (a portfolio of previous REVIT projects is required).
- Solid understanding of applicable Ontario building codes and specifications.
- Extensive knowledge and ability in the production of mechanical drawings and documents.
*Education and Experience*
- Completion of a College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a computer-aided drafting setting with a focus on mechanical engineering.
- Drafting and related computer skills appropriate within industrial design is considered an asset.
- Certified or working towards certification with a provincial professional association for engineering technicians and technologists, such as OACETT.
- Previous hydronics experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in the Agri-food, beverage, and/or pharmaceutical industries is considered an asset.
*Working Conditions*
This is a majority in-office position with travel and client plant floor exposure. Must have own transportation and a willingness to travel. On occasion, attendance on-site at client?s facilities and presence before/after regular business hours, may be required.

- Ability to deal with multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills including presenting ideas and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Understanding and ability of mechanical engineering principles and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in performing key responsibilities with minimal direction and oversight.
