Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Manufacture. Custom machine shop. Tasks: Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Prepare production and other reports. Train or arrange for training. Co-ordinate and schedule activities. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Set up machines and equipment. Supervise workers and projects. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations. Clean and maintain work space. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools. Supervision: 5-10 people. Staff in various areas of responsibility. Apprentices. Machine operators. Machinists and machining and tooling inspectors. Type of industry experience: Custom machining. Metal products manufacturing. Specialization or experience: Green economy sector.
