It markets the Thompson-Nicola region worldwide and facilitates all types of motion picture productions. Encompassing an unparalleled geographic region in south-central British Columbia, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) offers the best of both worlds - urban life within vibrant communities and outlying rural expanses that showcase the region's beauty. The TNRD spans 45,000 square kilometres of pristine but rugged mountains, rolling grasslands, lush evergreen forests and both historic and modern areas, and is home to a population of 144,000 located within its 11 diverse municipalities, 25 First Nations and 10 electoral areas.About the Film Assistant RoleWe are seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Film Assistant.Reporting to the Film Commissioner, the Film Assistant plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations, administrative requirements, and marketing initiatives of the department by: providing prompt and professional services to external stakeholders in order to facilitate productions currently filming and considering filming in the region, growing and maintaining the department's resource and location database, managing the departments marketing activities - social media creation, execution, engagement, monitoring, and measurement, completing a variety of essential administrative duties and other tasks as required.This in-office full-time position is based out of vibrant TNRD Civic Building which also houses the Kamloops Downtown Library, the Kamloops Art Gallery and a busy café.This is an exciting opportunity for a film-enthusiast with at least two years of office experience, preferably working in a local government, and a demonstrated interest in the motion picture industry and creative industries. In addition to their experience, the successful candidate will also hold a Certificate in Office Administration, Public Administration or related.The required knowledge, skills and abilities for success in this role include: Proficiency in Office 365, Adobe Suite and photo-manipulation software. Excellent organizational, project and time management skills, and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. Knowledge of client communications and other standard office procedures. Proficiency in email marketing platforms, content creation, graphic design/layout and image editing skills (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva), working within organizational visual brand and style guide parameters. Ability to provide courteous and helpful client service. Strong telephone communication skills. General knowledge of the TNRD?s communities and their location. Knowledge of motion picture production terminology hierarchy and basic etiquette. Ability to assess, analyse and respond to questions regarding film industry procedures and local protocols.This position falls under the provisions of the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 900.
