Named among Canada's Top 100 Employers, BC's Top Employers, and Canada's Greenest Employers, the City of Vancouver seeks colleagues who can help shape and embody our core commitments to sustainability, reconciliation, equity and outstanding quality of life for all residents.Consider joining our committed team of staff and being part of an innovative, inclusive and rewarding workplace.Main Purpose and FunctionThe Community Transportation Branch supports public engagement on mobility and public space projects; active and sustainable transportation promotions and outreach; school travel planning; community enquiry responses; development of neighbourhood traffic calming plans and community plan implementation.This position advances the Engagement Team work plan through the development of innovative stakeholder and public engagement strategies, strong project coordination and implementation, and internal public engagement literacy and capacity-building. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with residents, businesses, other stakeholders and the project team to help facilitate the delivery of bus-priority and Rapid Bus projects. The position supports the shared goals of the City of Vancouver and TransLink by developing strategies and recommendations for public engagement and outreach. Liaising with the community, they will help the project team better understand potential community impacts to proposed bus priority and Rapid Bus projects. This position will also establish and maintain clear lines of communication between residents, businesses and other stakeholders and the project team throughout design and construction.This position reports to the Team Lead II in the Community Transportation Branch, leading Rapid Bus project community engagement. The Transportation Planner will also work collaboratively with the Rapid Bus project team and liaise directly with other city departments and external organizations such as TransLink, Coast Mountain Bus Company and the Ministry of Infrastructure.Specific Duties and Responsibilities Leads the design and delivery of complex stakeholder and public engagement strategies for transportation projects Investigates and makes recommendations to solve planning Community Transportation problems Supports the delivery of transportation policies and objectives and ensures organizational alignment with key citywide strategies including the Vancouver Plan, Transportation 2040 and more Supports the development of new transportation projects and policies to address emerging trends or practices Plans and implements strategic project direction through multiple project phases Provides community engagement guidance to a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, designers, landscape architects Conducts studies, prepares and synthesizes public engagement materials for a broad audience including presentations, open house panels, newsletters, brochures, reports and community surveys Leads public consultation, organizes and delivers stakeholder meetings, engagements, workshops, pop-ups, open houses and other related events Responds to public and Council inquires in a timely and professional manner Fosters relationships with residents, businesses and stakeholder groups such as business improvement areas (BIAs), residents? associations (RAs), non-profits and others Supervises the work of junior staff, as needed Other duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsEducation and Experience: A post-secondary degree in planning recognized by the Canadian Institute o
