STRABAG is actively seeking an Environmental Engineer for our Canadian division where he/she can utilize their extensive knowledge to contribute to the continued success and growth of the organization. *The successful candidate will be stationed at the project site in Scarborough. *
*Job Summary*
The Environmental Engineer is responsible to assist in the management environmental compliance for construction projects. Background in environmental engineering, science or other environmental discipline required to assist with environmental compliance and reporting.
*Duties*
* Conduct daily site inspections to assess for compliance and prepare technical reports in accordance with the Environmental Management System and maintain a field log
* Ensure that erosion and sediment controls and other environmental mitigations measures are being implemented on site
* Identify and document environmental site deficiencies and communicate with the construction team for resolution with photographic evidence
* Assist team in environmental construction operations, reporting requirements as it pertains to environmental management system
* Supervise and coordinate with subcontractors
* Assist the environmental manager on issues as detailed in the environmental management plans and legislative requirements, assist in obtaining permits and approvals
* Complete spill reporting and clean up supervision
* Communicate with the Environmental manager of any construction that need to addressed in relation to the environmental management plans
* Collect samples of soil and water for laboratory analysis, as required, for environmental quality monitoring purposes
* Coordinate with internally with multiple disciplines and various consultants
* Other duties as assigned

*Qualifications*
* Minimum 5 years experience working as an environmental engineer or equivalent, preferably in a an engineering or construction industry
* A bachelor or advanced degree in environmental science or engineering
* Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) is an asset
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment
* Able to work outdoor under different weather conditions
* Advanced proficiency with applicable software application related in the field
* Knowledge of project documentation and engineering terminology
* Knowledge and experience with the Environmental Protection Act, Environmental Management System and other environmental applicable law
* Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
* Must have a valid G2 or G driver?s licence
*Physical Demands:*
While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to lift to 10 lbs.

The employee is generally required to work on a construction site.
