The Board of Education has developed a future-oriented Strategic Plan that focuses on three priority areas: Learning Engagement GrowthThe Employee and Labour Relations Consultant provides a variety of labour and employment related services to management in a largely unionized environment. The position supports all labour relations functions including bargaining, workplace investigations, grievance administration, arbitrations, job evaluation, records management, administrative support, and other related duties. The position balances strong organizational skills with a collaborative curiosity to solve problems and resolve conflict. The position plays a key role in ensuring a positive labour relations climate throughout the school district by leveraging strong relationships with union representatives, employees and leaders. As an ideal candidate, you: Strive for Personal Excellence Think Critically and Creatively Build Relationships Practice a Growth Mindset Effectively Communicate and Collaborate Foster Interconnectedness And have the required education and experience noted below: Completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree specializing in labour relations and human resource management. Minimum five years of experience working within the Human Resources field, ideally in a public sector setting, in a unionized environment administering collective agreements and labour relations issues such as grievances and workplace investigations. Demonstrated knowledge of labour, employment and human rights legislation, and strong knowledge of collective agreement interpretation. Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office software and experience working with a human resource information system. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred.The salary range for this full-time position is $86,541 to $108,176 per annum.Initial placement within the range is based on related education and experience.Sooke School District offers a very competitive benefits package and pension plan.
