This role requires a deep understanding of system engineering principles, hardware and software integration, and the unique challenges of designing systems for harsh environments.</p><p><b>To get a taste of the work environment at Kontron Canada, watch the following video in French: </b><span><b><span style="text-decoration:none;">https://youtu.be/YQQIQ_8R_yo</span></b><b></b></span></p><p> </p><p><b><u>AN OVERVIEW OF THE CHALLENGES AHEAD:</u></b></p><p> </p><p><b>KEY RESPONSABILITIES</b>:</p><ul><li>Design and develop innovative system solutions for a wide range of rugged embedded computing requirements within our target markets;</li><li>Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define comprehensive system requirements and specifications;</li><li>Leverage strong analytical skills to address development issues promptly and effectively;</li><li>Ensure system deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards;</li><li>Collaborate on developing comprehensive system reliability, qualification and verification plans to ensure all components meet rigorous performance, reliability, and safety standards required.</li></ul><p> </p><p><b>JOB DESCRIPTION:</b></p><p>Kontron Canada?s rugged platforms include various form factors such as rackmount, ATR, MCU and flange mounted embedded systems with a wide range of I/O interconnections from MIL-Circular to ARINC 600 connectors based on the target market and environmental conditions. These systems typically comprise of integrating x86 or ARM processors, GPU/Accelerator devices, network switch, memory, storage, peripheral interfaces, wireless devices, integrated power, other application specific interfaces, and software.</p><p> </p><p><b>WHAT YOU?LL DO:</b></p><ul><li>Lead a team in developing high-performance embedded computing solutions for avionics, defense, and rugged environments;</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, ensuring seamless integration of hardware, software, mechanical components, and readiness reviews;</li><li>Conduct feasibility studies and system-level analysis to assess performance, reliability, and efficiency of embedded systems in harsh environments;</li><li>Provide adaptable support to the systems engineering organization. Responsibilities may include direct program systems engineering support, proposal development, or support to internal development tasks;</li><li>Work closely with customers, industry standards groups and internal stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements. May represent the organization in these meetings and present technical topics;</li><li>Develop and maintain system engineering plans, documentation, functional diagrams, and compliance matrices, design verification plans;</li><li>Ensure designs meet required ARINC and MIL-STD standards such as DO-160G, MIL-STD-810/461 and DO-254 and DO-178C;</li><li>Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in avionics and defense systems;</li><li>Define, develop and analyze the requirements and specifications of the systems and platforms to be developed, considering the integrated hardware / software applications required by the market and customer use cases;</li><li>Act as internal technical representative of clients and ensure that design requirements are properly understood and implemented. Verify the conformity of the system and its components and ensure that they meet the requirements.</li></ul><p> </p><p><b>THE IDEAL APPLICANT:</b></p><ul><li>Has strong understanding of system engineering principles, including requirements analysis, design, integration, reliability, verification, and validation;</li><li>Has strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication, priority management
