*Summary*
The Banquet Manager is responsible for the supervision and control of the banqueting department to the required standards and within agreed budgetary limits. The Banquet Manager will ensure that banquet rooms are prepped to specifications, wait staff are fully prepared, banquet guests are well taken care of, and that the whole function runs smoothly.

*Job Duties*
* Ensure that banquet labour targets are enforced and regulated
* Ensure a prompt, courteous response and follow up to all enquiries.
* Ensure that staff sections match event running order
* Check the banquet facilities cleanliness before guests arrive, table layout and specific requirements to enable shortcomings to be rectified.
* Greet the host and circulate during the course of the function to ensure availability in the event of a problem or complaint.
* Ensure that the Director has adequate billing information at the end of the function
* Ensure that all staff are correctly and smartly dressed at all times.
* Ensure effective briefing of waiting staff before the function commences.
* Ensure that bar and waiting staff know the limit of open bars and that this is not exceeded.
* Ensure that the service of food and drink is courteous and professional.
* Ensure that tables are correctly set and that table appointments, including flower arrangements, are impeccable.
* Ensure that all used equipment is returned to its correct storage place, once the function is over.
* Ensure that surplus equipment is removed once the function is over and returned to its correct storage place.
* Check equipment against the function checklist to ensure that no items have been misappropriated or mislaid.
* Check equipment regularly against the inventory to ensure minimum losses.
* Ensure maximum security of all areas under your control, paying particular attention to valuable assets, e.g. silverware.
* Ensure that all items are used for their correct purpose and not abused, e.g. knives used as screwdrivers, table-cloths or napkins used for cleaning.
* Provide feedback on guest letters and comments.
* Carry out or ensure that regular On-the-Job Training is carried out to enable staff to perform their duties correctly.
*Requirements*
* University degree or College Diploma in an appropriate field.
* 5 years of direct work experience in a management capacity
* Experience in all aspects of customer service and people management
* Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team
* Strong working knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques
* Ability to supervise employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
* Ability to examine and re-engineer banquet, staffing and food and beverage operations, form new policies, and develop and implement new strategies
* Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required
* Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills
* Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
* Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
* Good training, coaching, and mentoring skills are essential
* Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and customers
* Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques
* Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
* Ability to coordinate and organize meetings, exhibits, and other events
* High level of proficiency with Square payments.
