Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Welding technology/welder. Work site environment: At heights. Confined spaces. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Dirty. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Swimming pool/centre. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal. Determine weldability of materials. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations and seams of metal. Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Type of materials: Stainless steel. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Measuring tools: Gauges. Welding techniques: TIG. MIG. Gas metal ARC (GMAW) (MIG). Equipment and machinery experience: Brazing machine. Butt or seam resistance welding machine. Gas welding machine. Soldering machine. Spot welding machine. Area of specialization: Structural construction. Cast iron and other metals. Fencing, balconies, stairs and railings. Security and safety: Bondable.
