*Overview*
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Clerk to join our team. This role involves processing payroll for multiple companies within the organization, some of which are unionized, while also managing employee benefits. The Payroll Clerk will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, in compliance with company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and relevant labour laws. The ideal candidate will have experience with multi-company payroll processing, unionized environments, benefits administration, and a strong understanding of payroll systems.
*Responsibilities*
* Accurately calculate and process payroll for employees across multiple companies.
* Ensure that payroll for unionized employees reflects the terms of the collective bargaining agreements.
* Review and verify employee timesheets, attendance, and leave records (vacation, sick leave, etc.).
* Manage and administer employee benefit programs, ensuring proper enrollment, changes, and deductions for benefits are applied accurately to employee payroll.
* Address employee payroll and benefits-related inquiries, provide explanations, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Assist with year-end payroll processing, including preparation and distribution of T4 slips.
* Participate in year-end audit preparation by providing requested information in a timely manner.
*Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities*
* Knowledge of accounting and payroll principles and practices.
* Familiarity with ERP accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong work ethic with keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and integrity of work performed.
* Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* Ability to work in excel using intermediate formulas and functions.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all duties.
* Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
*Minimum Qualifications*
* Post secondary diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* One (1) to three (3) years of experience in payroll or a related financial role
* Payroll Compliance Professional (CPC) designation preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
