Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Dental practice. Tasks: Conduct initial dental assessments. Consult with dentists on patient care. Instruct patients regarding oral hygiene. Clean and stimulate the gums to prevent gum disease. Remove stains and deposits from teeth. Remove sutures. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity. Fast-paced environment. Hand-eye co-ordination. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Work under pressure. Ability to distinguish between colours. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Interpersonal awareness. Team player.
