We are accepting applications for the following:<p>Position : Maintenance<p>III - Journeyman Carpenter<p>Location : Hinton<p>Start<p>Date : Immediately <p>Hours<p>of work : 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday<p> Wage Rate: $35.59 - $39.15, in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement<p>This<p>opportunity will remain open till a suitable candidate is found. Summary: <p>The successful candidate will provide carpentry<p>services to the Facilities Department, and works under the direction and<p>supervision of the Director of Facilities.<p>Duties: <p>The duties of this position are to include but are not<p>limited to: Repairing walls.<p> Monthly generator, playground and<p> fire extinguisher checks<p> Regular maintenance of schools<p> (hanging banners & pictures)<p> Unplugging toilets (in emergency<p> situations)<p> Repairing flooring and trim<p> Touch-up painting<p> Roofing Repairs<p> Move furniture and stage (heavy<p> lifting involved)<p> Assist with minor renovations and<p> construction projects<p> Responding to call outs<p> Other duties as assigned All of the above duties<p>require that the employee be able to work on a ladder or scaffolding at any<p>given time. It is estimated that a carpenter spends an average of 30% of his<p>time on a ladder. The ability to be able to lift and work with hands above his head<p>is approximately 60% of the daily duties. The carpenter is also required to<p>move and work in a crawl space.<p>The carpenter is also<p>required to travel to other schools in the Division to perform his/her duties.<p>Working away from home base represents approximately 30% of the total work<p>time.<p>Qualifications: <p>The successful candidate will: Posses a valid journeyman's certificate.<p> Possess a valid Class 5 Driver's license or<p> higher if required.<p> Have other valid certificates as<p> required by Facilities (First Aid, TDG, WHMIS, Fire Extinguishers etc.) would<p> be an asset.<p> Technology and computer skills (e-mail,<p> computerized inventory control programs, computerized maintenance programs,<p> etc.)<p> Must be self-motivated,<p> self-directed with the ability to organize and prioritize work.<p> Must be able to work with minimal<p> supervision and as a team player.<p> Have ability to maintain a high level<p> of confidentiality.<p> Have a physical ability to perform the required<p> duties.The Division <p>Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD)<p>stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and<p>northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning<p>Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff.
