NEW BRUNSWICK HOUSING CORPORATIONHOUSING INSPECTOR(Technical Services Inspector 1)OPEN COMPETITIONMONCTONThe New Brunswick Housing Corporation (NBHC) is seeking an individual to join the Housing Team as a Housing Inspector in the Moncton region.As a member of the Housing Branch, the major duties of this position will be to conduct building inspections for a variety of housing programs on government owned as well as on private residences, to ensure compliance with plans, contracts, regulations, codes and standards; to assess the condition of these buildings and make recommendations for necessary repair work; to write tenders and contracts; to prepare technical reports, specifications, cost estimates and detailed cost analysis. Above duties require an understanding of the National Building Code and how it applies to the construction industry. Inspections include but are not limited to structural, ventilation, plumbing, heating and electrical energy efficient components. The candidate must possess strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills, as well as independent judgement within the framework of governing regulations, laws, codes and policies. Other duties may be assigned as required. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years civil engineering technology program and possess a minimum of one (1) year experience in building construction and/or building inspection OR Two (2) years building engineering technology: building systems program and possess a minimum of one (1) year experience in building construction and/or building inspection OR Two (2) years building engineering technology: construction management program and possess a minimum of one (1) year experience in building construction and/or building inspection OR have graduated from a (1) year carpentry certification program and possess a minimum of two (2) year's experience in building construction and/or building inspection.Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
