Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Tasks: Lay out reference points and patterns. Plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently. Study engineering drawings and blueprints. Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Weld or bolt sections together. Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines. Construct patterns and templates. Install fabricated components in final product. Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Metal Fabricator Trade Certification. Metal Fabricator (Fitter) Red Seal Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Forklift Operator Certification. Welding techniques: MIG. TIG. Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Brakes and presses. Cutting torches. Drills. Grinder. Shears. Saws. Area of specialization: Structural metal or steel. Platework. Bridges. Tanks. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Gloves. Hard hat. Welding helmet.
