Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Professionalism in customer service. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. DZ class license. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) Certificate. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Forklift Operator Certification. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Communication systems experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer). Equipment and machinery experience: Pumping equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Short-haul. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Medical exam. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
