Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Pharmacy or drugstore. Tasks: Ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate. Enter client information in databases. Help pharmacists. Maintain inventories of medications and pharmaceutical products. Maintain prescription records . Position patients for treatments by chiropractor or machine. Prepare medications for clients. Set up and dismantle equipment. Supervise and direct activities of other medical technologists or technicians. Apply and adjust casts, splints and bandages. Assemble or build prosthetic and orthotic appliances according to drawings, measurements and plaster casts. Clean and maintain equipment. Compound, package and label pharmaceutical products. Design and fabricate ocular implants. Help with scheduling and workflow. Lay out surgical instruments. Plan menus and diet for individuals or groups under direction of dietition or nutritionist. Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies. Reassemble equipment and assemble packs of sterile supplies and instruments for delivery to hospital departments. Record information about donors. Record vital signs. Assist chiropractor with patient health education. Assist in supervising personnel who prepare and serve food. Clean and dress wounds. Label and process donated blood. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices. Prepare solutions for preservation of specimens. Take body or limb measurements of patients. Advise patients in the use and care of prostheses and orthoses. Bill third party insurers. Compound oral solutions, ointments and creams. Help patients complete menus. Maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products. Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation. Provide post donation care and donor reaction care. Remove casts, sutures and pins. Assist dietitians with research in food, nutrition and food service systems. Clean and sew up bodies for release to funeral homes. Collect statistics. Maintain supplies. Interpret physician's specification. Maintain inventory of equipment. Monitor donors throughout procedure. Advise patients on loss of depth perception. Assist chiropractor with physical examinations. Make and modify plaster casts. Perform general clerical duties.
