Social Worker Position: Casual Social WorkerLocation: HDSB Schools <p>[Burlington, Halton Hills (Acton & Georgetown), Oakville, Milton]Pay Rate: $78,678.00 - $104,781.00 per year as per the collective agreement<p>Salary step would be determined based on previous experience<p>The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is one of the fastest growing school districts in Canada. Together, our 10,000+ staff serve more than 66,000 students in more than 100 schools in the communities of Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown and Halton Hills. We are seeking qualified Casual Social Workers to be placed in the casual pool. Individuals within this casual pool may be offered temporary, short-term employment up to 3 months in length to fill temporary vacancies during the absence of the regular incumbent.Casual pool applicants who are successful in the interview and provide the board with a clear vulnerable sector check and a confirmation of their diploma/degree will be contacted when short-term and long-term temporary assignments become available. Once employed in a short-term or long-term temporary Social Workers position, casual Social Worker applicants will have priority consideration for long term occasional and permanent job opportunities as they are posted as per the PSSP Collective Agreement. For temporary long-term occasional (LTO) positions, longer than three months, a comprehensive Employee & Family Benefits plan applies to those in positions longer than 90 consecutive days. Once an applicant is offered an accepts a short-term or long-term temporary position, they become employees of the HDSB. Areas of responsibility may include: <p>School Communities <p>The Safe and Inclusive Schools Team including The H.O.P.E.S team (for students who have been suspended for 6 or more days or expelled) <p>The Welcome Centre (for newcomers, refugees, and international students)HDSB Social Workers are capable of providing short-term individual and/or group counselling as well as support to parents and families. They provide comprehensive support and case management and are knowledgeable of local and regional community resources. HDSB Social Workers have knowledge related to bullying prevention and intervention, including training in restorative practices and conflict resolution strategies. Responsibilities will include: <p>Offer problem-solving and consultation services around student needs to develop supportive strategies to enhance student success <p>Provide support and service rooted in cultural responsiveness, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive practices<p>Help students, families and schools in relation to mental health, emotional, social and behavioural concerns<p>Support students who are suspended or expelled and their families<p>Provide anger management, social skills, conflict resolution, life skills, and work skills<p>Provide social work services to newcomers, refugees and international students and their families during students' transition to school<p>Support schools and communities around issues of bullying prevention/intervention and other issues related to school safety including Violence Threat Risk Assessment and Restorative Practices Minimum Qualifications: <p>Ma- LocationBurlington, ON
