TAKE DIRECTION FROM TEACHERS, INCLUSIVE EDUCATION SPECIALISTS, AND SUPERVISORS<p>? WORK AS A MEMBER OF A TEAM AND FOLLOW STUDENT PROGRAMS AS DIRECTED IN IEP<p>? IMPLEMENT ADAPTED OR MODIFIED CURRICULUM, WHEN NEEDED<p>? IMPLEMENT LIFESKILLS CURRICULUM<p>? PREPARE VISUAL SUPPORTS AND IMPLEMENT LOW TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS<p>? IMPLEMENT AUGMENTATIVE ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS <p>? DEMONSTRATE UNDERSTANDING OF DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES IN LANGUAGE ACQUISITION<p>? BE ABLE TO PHYSICALLY SUPPORT STUDENTS<p>? FACILITATE DAILY LIVING SKILLS (FEEDING, DRESSING, TOILETING, MOBILITY)<p>? IMPLEMENT DAILY EXERCISE PROGRAM UNDER DIRECTION OF AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST OR PHYSIOTHERAPIST<p>? DEMONSTRATE INDIVIDUAL INITIATIVE JUDGEMENT AND ABLE TO COLLECT DATA<p>? DEMONSTRATE AND PRACTICE PROACTIVE BEHAVIOUR STRATEGIES AND ABLE TO WORK EFFECTIVELY WITH STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR<p>? DEMONSTRATE UNDERSTANDING OF SOCIAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, SOCIAL INTERACTION, AND PEER RELATIONSHIP<p>? FACILITATE DEVELOPMENT OF SELF-MONITORING SKILLS, BOUNDARIES, AND STUDENT INDEPENDENCE<p>? HAVE A RECOGNIZED TEACHING ASSISTANT CERTIFICATE OR EQUIVALENT TRAINING<p>? SUPPORTING STUDENTS? ACADEMIC GOALS<p><p>QUALIFICATIONS AS PER JOB DESCRIPTION.<p>Terms of Employment: All instructional days, September through June<p>KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE<p>1. Secondary school graduation or equivalent <p>2. Education Assistant Certification or equivalent in related field or equivalent experience working with individuals with disabilities, behaviour disorders, learning and physical disabilities, syndromes and disorders that affect the learning of students <p>3. Minimum three (3) months of experience working with children<p>4. Knowledge and understanding of child development <p>5. Familiarity with Individual Education Plans and Individual Care Plans an asset<p>6. Ability to implement modified and adapted curriculum<p>7. Basic computer skills with ability to read and form emails, view word/excel documents, navigate internet and use web-based applications <p>8. Physical ability to respond to student needs (i.e. bolting)<p><p>SKILLS AND ABILITIES<p>1. Demonstrates patience and acceptance when dealing with students<p>2. Shows kindness and cares about the well-being of students<p>3. Actively shows courtesy and respect to all, proactively builds healthy and trusting relationships with all; contributes to a positive working environment<p>3. Clearly articulates thoughts and ideas and shares timely and relevant information openly, honestly and respectfully using oral, written and visual formats<p>4. Possesses strong organizational skills and proactively plans, prioritizes and organizes work<p>5. Respects the confidential nature of all information relating to students, parents and staff <p><p>RESPONSIBILITIES<p>1. Participates in the planning and implementation of Individual Education Plan goals, objectives and supports<p>2. Participates in supervision of students within the school, on the playground and on field trips, including the transitioning between activities in and outside the school building<p>3. Assists students during classroom activities<p>4. Supports social inclusion in the classroom and on the playground through implementing self-regulation strategies, behaviour support strategies, communication strategies and monitoring behaviour<p>5. Objectively observes and records student behaviour, as required<p>6. Reports safety, unusual behaviour, and discipline concerns to the principal or designate, but resolves any minor disagreements where possible<p>7. May support personal care needs of students (e.g. glucagon testing, toileting, feeding)<p>8. Attends to minor cuts or b
