Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Work setting: Various locations. Marine. Tasks: Determine materials required. Interpret engineering drawings and others' instructions to plan methods and sequences of operation. Lay out reference points and patterns. Plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently. Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements. Construct patterns and templates. Install fabricated components in final product. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Type of materials: Steel, iron and heavy metals. Area of specialization: Marine repair. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Overtime required. Handling heavy loads. Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years. Health benefits: Health care plan.
