City of CourtenayReal Estate TechnicianThe City of Courtenay invites applications for a 2-year temporary full-time position of "Real Estate Technician?. This is a union position subject to the terms and conditions in the collective agreement between the City and CUPE Local 556.The Real Estate Technician provides organizational, technical and administrative support for all functions associated with the management of City-owned properties. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSA diploma or degree in business administration, real estate, urban land economics or a related field. A legal assistant, paralegal certificate or an assessable equivalent in education, training and experience. Two years of experience in a property management, real estate, or legal office environment in an administrative and technical support capacity. Experience working in a local government or public sector environment is preferred. Thorough knowledge of procedures, forms documents and legal terminology relating to rights and interest in land, including Land Title Office registrations. Knowledge of contract law and real estate law. Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Excel. Thorough knowledge of general office procedures, composition of letters and customization of document relevant to discipline. Knowledge of department?s role within the City?s organizational structure. Thorough knowledge of Provincial and/or Federal statutes and regulations relevant to real estate. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent written oral and communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Effective and courteous interaction with the public, other agencies and internal departments. Familiarity with Tempest land-based system (or equivalent). Ability to interpret complex agreements and ensure compliance with terms and conditions. Ability to work under general direction only, exercising considerable independence and initiative in the execution of duties. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to exercise sound judgement. Ability to work independently with autonomy. Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner. The current hourly wage rate is $39.15. This is a 2-year temporary full-time position; 35 hours per week.
