The Sturgeon Public School Division is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in language development and a passion for supporting students from Grade 1 to 12. This position will focus on improving language and communication skills, ensuring all students have equal access to learning opportunities. We are looking for someone who embraces a strength-based approach and is committed to collaborating with teachers, families, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support to our students.<p> Responsibilities <p>Embrace a student-centered, strength-based approach, focusing on the holistic needs of the family and child.<p>Actively engage parents as partners in planning and decision-making<p>Adapt service delivery flexibly to meet the diverse and evolving needs of staff and students.<p> Offer supports and services to foster inclusion and well-being in communication skills, social language, literacy, and augmentative communication.<p> Facilitate engagement and participation in learning by minimizing barriers.<p> Collaborate with teachers to provide universal, targeted, and individualized support for students with language and communication delays.<p> Work closely with a transdisciplinary team and consultants to assess student needs and develop tailored interventions, supports, and program plans for students with complex communication needs.<p> Assist classroom teachers and families in implementing alternative augmentative communication options both in the classroom and at home.<p> Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure effective implementation of communication strategies and interventions.<p> Conduct assessments to identify strengths and areas for growth, utilizing a variety of assessment tools and methods.<p> Maintain accurate digital records of student progress, assessments, and interventions.<p> Stay updated on best practices, research, and trends in speech-language pathology in educational settings.<p> Lead and supervise therapy assistant(s), providing guidance, support, and direction in implementing therapy plans and interventions. <p> Key Competencies <p> Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.<p> Empathy and patience when working with staff, students and their families.<p> Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and staff.<p> Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.<p> Proficient in utilizing various computer applications and software related to Speech-Language Pathology<p> Competent in using digital data management systems for tracking student progress and generating reports.<p> Qualifications and Experience <p> Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent from a recognized school of Speech & Language Pathology.<p> Eligible for membership with ACSLPA (Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists) and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC).<p> Experience working with augmentative communication, assessment and intervention is preferred.<p> Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle is required, as daily travel within the school division is necessary.<p> Knowledge and understanding of emergent literacy and numeracy is not required but considered an asset. <p> The Sturgeon Public School Division offers a competitive annual wage between $76,000 and $98,000 and a comprehensive benefits package.
