Pool Lifeguard - Part Time Cole Harbour Place is a 200,000 square foot sport and recreation facility located in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. We are here to serve and accommodate members of our local and surrounding communities to achieve their personal health and wellness goals. The facility includes pools, rinks, weight room and training centre, dance and fitness studios, spin studio, squash courts, various meeting rooms as well as multiple community minded tenants. Job Summary: Cole Harbour Place is currently accepting applications for a part time lifeguard position. This position offers a total of at least 6-25 hours a week for a 3 month term beginning January 2nd. Responsibilities: - Prevent injuries, incidents and emergencies by performing effective scanning and educating the public on safe pool behaviour as well as facility rules. - Respond to minor and major incidents/situations and administer first aid in the event of injury. - Demonstrate appropriate behaviour while interacting positively with staff and patrons. - Perform routine safety inspections of all aquatic equipment/facilities and inform aquatic supervisors of any concerns. - Complete paperwork including a daily logbook, pool reports and incident reports. - Maintain a level of fitness required to perform rescues and tasks associated with the duties of a lifeguard. Qualifications and skills: * National Lifesaving and Intermediate Workplace First Aid certification required * Swim for Life certification, Lifesaving Instructor certification and Oxygen Administration certification is an asset * Previous experience as a instructor is an asset * Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication * Demonstrates strong customer service skills * Ability to commit to 6-25 hours per week for a 3 month term Please note that Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks will be required as part of the hiring process What's in it for you: - Free personal/family membership to Cole Harbour Place - Free Parking - A dynamic work environment committed to extraordinary staff and customer satisfaction Job Type: Part-time Pay: $15.35-$15.70 per hour Expected hours: 6 ? 25 per week Benefits: * On-site gym * On-site parking Schedule: * Day shift * Evening shift * Monday to Friday * Morning shift * Weekends as needed Licence/Certification: * Intermediate Workplace First Aid Certification (required) * National Lifeguard Certification (required) * Swim for Life Instructor Certification (preferred) Work Location: In person Application deadline: 2024-11-20 Expected start date: 2025-01-02- LocationDartmouth, NS
