Multicultural Association of Fredericton Inc. (MCAF) is seeking a *Coordinating Instructor* and we would like to hear from you!
NB Skills-Launch Youth ( SKY) is an employability program designed for newcomers aged 15-30 experiencing barriers to employment. Eligible participants learn about Canadian Workplace culture, local labour markets, interview skills, resume building, networking, English language enhancement & much more. In class training is followed by an opportunity for a work placement. The Coordinating Instructor will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of this project and will provide workshops and work placements for newcomers, as well as appropriate follow up.
They will be responsible for project and event planning, coordination, and instruction of pre-employment skills to project participants. This is a unique opportunity to create a meaningful change for immigrants in the Fredericton region.
*Key duties and responsibilities include: *
· Coordinate trainings and workshops for participants with community partners (PETL, NBCC, St. John Ambulance, Safety Services NB etc.);
· Apply case management approach to support clients, including problem solving, tracking and recording progress and results;
· Actively promote the project, including recruitment, screening and selection of participants;
· Design and deliver workshops pre-employment skills including: resume building, job search skills, interview skills, Canadian workplace culture, health and safety, etc.
· Assess, design and deliver ESL language training to participants to enhance their language capacity through reading, writing and numeracy
· Facilitate and work closely with WorkingNB in a CASE Conference model
· Work closely with WorkingNB in securing and monitoring work placements for participants
· Coordinate details and logistics for meetings, which may include note taking and follow up
· Work within the project budget and ensure it is adhered to
· Assist with securing sponsorships, including drafting and managing correspondence with potential sponsors
· Coordinate and collaborate with employer organizations/sector councils and employers
· Prepare monthly reports and quarterly roll-up reports;
· Prepare end of project report and do project close-out activities;
· Support MCAF Employment Services Team with program roll-out, coaching, reporting and other overflow duties;
· Other duties as required
*Requirements:*
· Bachelor of Education or
· Degree in other field and TESL or equivalent certificate
· Minimum of 2 years relevant experience ( project coordination/management, teaching ESL )
· Proven ability to bring forth and ideas to engage learners/participants
· Excellent writing, speaking, and listening skills ? _*Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate high bilingual capabilities in English & other languages;*_
· Ability to demonstrate in resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills
· High proficiency with technologies such as MS Office Applications, smart board, MS Teams
· Previous work in a cross-cultural setting would be an asset;
· Solid understanding and knowledge of the Canadian labour market, Canadian workplace practices, job search strategies and techniques;
· Effective multitasking, priority setting and time management skills;
· Proven ability to take initiative, be creative and autonomous;
· Ability to be flexible, outgoing and prepared to take on new tasks
*Terms of employment:*
· Contract - renewable pending continuation of funding
· Full time 37.5 hrs per week, health benefits, RSP, additional vacation/sick days
· Criminal Record Check Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
Valid driver?s license and clean driver?s abstract would be an asset
