Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel. Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings. Install roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings. Repair roofing systems. Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools. Estimate costs and materials. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Hand-eye co-ordination. Repetitive tasks. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Client focus. Dependability. Reliability. Team player. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
