*Position: *Mental Health Worker
*Term: *24.5hours per week (November 2024 ? March 31, 2025)

*Position Summary*
· Mental Health Worker is primarily responsible for the provision of mental health supports in response to pre and post migration stressors among immigrant and refugee populations.
· Working closely with referral sources, they provide crisis intervention, short-term support, and referrals for youth and families.
· The services are offered at OCISO locations and throughout the community.
· They are also responsible for all related administrative duties.
*Main Responsibilities*
· The Mental Health Workers provide clients with a clinical assessment & engage in counselling - up to 6 sessions
· Use appropriate western counselling modalities (CBT, Emotion Focused, Strengths Based) adapted with an appropriate cultural & linguistic lens
· Develops a support plan for the client and implements a circle of care including the Intensive Case Manager, Counsellor and the referring worker to ensure comprehensive supports are delivered
· Referrals made & supports engaged as needed
· Provide informed and culturally responsive short term mental health interventions for clients presenting with a wide variety of issues arising from pre and post migration experiences
· Provide in program referral to more intensive intervention services when required
· Make appropriate referrals to other community resources
· Provide accountability through oral and written reports of client progress
· The Mental Health Worker ensures that the program uses a trauma informed approach and the tenets of equity, access and anti-racism / anti-oppression
· Promotes the OCISO mission and values in all actions
· Demonstrates commitment to OCISO?s culture of respect management approach and anti-racism / anti-oppression policy within the work environment and the community
· Promotes intra-agency cooperation, coordination and communication
· Supports all aspects of OCISO?s work in interactions with potential funding sources, other community service providers, clients and the public
· Shares good management and work practices that have the potential for broader application elsewhere in the agency
· Ensures confidentiality and safe handling and storage of client data and files
· Provides support and problem-solving assistance to clients and staff as needed
*QUALIFICATIONS *
· Bachelor?s degree in relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology)
· Strong understanding of pre and post migration issues and their impact on mental health
· Knowledgeable of alternative non-western models of healing that will enhance culturally responsive mental health services
· Knowledge and experience on solving problem techniques
· Experience working in a non-profit organization
· Experience dealing with a volunteer workforce is an asset
· Familiarity with mental health and wellness supports
· Experience and proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, multicultural team environment
· Understanding of the issues faced by immigrants and refugees
· Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
· Excellent verbal and written skills in English, additional languages an asset
*Salary & Benefits:*
$38,971 - $39,748 annually. Comprehensive benefits plan including health, dental, an RRSP plan and a generous leave entitlement.
