Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Construction company. Tasks: Prepare all data and documents related to surveys of real property boundaries. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Supervise other land surveyors and/or field crews. Supervise the preparation and compilation of all data and documents related to surveys of real property boundaries. Plan, direct and supervise or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries of properties. Record all measurements and other information obtained during survey activities. Analyze, manage and display data using geographic information systems and computer-aided design and drafting. Survey and lay out subdivisions for rural and urban development. Prepare production reports. Communicate with other workers to co-ordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Excel. MS Outlook. Technical experience: Mapping and surveying. Field skills experience: Operate survey equipment. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Survey specialization: Construction. Land development. Subdivisions. Land survey. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Walking. Handling heavy loads. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Safety equipment/gear.
