Warmland Animal Clinic
Job details
*The clinic: *
We are a newly opened privately-owned, companion and exotic animal veterinary clinic. Our practice is nestled between the mountains surrounding the quaint town of Lake Cowichan and is operating as the sole veterinary practice in the area. We live next to a crystal-clear lake that connects off into the famous Lake Cowichan river that is well known for its tubing in the summer months. Nature is in abundance where we are, so if you are outdoorsy, this is the right place for you. We are a destination town for vacationers; but, wouldn?t it just be nice to live in paradise full-time, instead? Winters here are minimal and warm. We truly live in Canada?s Hawaii!
*The crew:*
We currently operate as a single veterinarian practice with 4 assistants, 2 receptionists and 1 assistant office manager. We have 2 higher functioning assistants, acting in the capacity of veterinary technicians, with 1 nearing the completion of the Veterinary Technology Open Learning Diploma Program through Thompson Rivers University.
Once a month we sit down together for a team meeting to discuss how to improve our operations and everyone is welcome to bring ideas to the table.
We like to hang out with each other outside of work. In celebration of our 6-months of being open we went to Tigh-Na-Mara spa in Parksville for a spa day together. More exciting events to come!
We like to have fun at work! Everyone embraces the change of the seasons by doing things like decorating the hospital (currently a halloween/autumn theme) to making goodie bags for clients and their pets when it's time for a fun freebie.
*What makes us so special: *
We have all new, state of the art equipment; for example: electric surgical dry and wet tables, digital full body and dental radiography equipment, an ultrasound machine, endoscope and a fully comprehensive in-house laboratory; including, but not limited to: hematology, chemistry and specialized tests: T4, TSH, cPL, fPL, fructosamine, progesterone, proBNP and troponin, etc.
We are preventative and proactive in our health care approach. We encourage and discuss with clients the option and importance of vaccination titre-testing. We have an in-house machine for both canine and feline core vaccine titres offered to clients at a reasonable cost.
We are open-minded and flexible. We offer both conventional western medicine and alternative medicine options in our practice as we believe there is a place for both. Our medicine approach is tailored to the individual and owners are given all options in a given situation.
We have a growth mindset. Whatever it is that you are interested in, we can make it happen. We believe that every veterinarian should have the freedom to practice medicine how they choose. If there is a piece of equipment that you are wanting to get your hands on, we will strive to make that happen.
We are looking for veterinarians that would like to create a partnership and become owners with us. We believe that to have a successful and stable business, veterinarians need to come together. As a team, we can do anything!
*The perks: *
Competitive salary with health benefits and a signing bonus.
There is no on-call and you will have your weekends free.
Continuing education allowance, veterinary membership fees paid, VIN membership, clothing allowance, and a full or part-time schedule depending on your needs.
We have grateful and kind clients in this area. This is the first permanent, free-standing veterinary practice to service the needs of the people in Lake Cowichan, and because of this, they are incredibly grateful to have our support.
An excellent team. We are building a clinic culture that is positive, happy and motivated. We have a staff that doesn?t just feel like this is a job to them, as many of them helped us build the practice from ground zero. We can honestly say that on a daily basis we are surrounded by music and laughter, and have built a team that considers each other family.
