Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques. Professionalism in customer service. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : AZ class license. Air Brakes Endorsement. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated. Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer). Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. Provincial/territorial. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Drug test. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Large workload. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 9 kg (20 lbs). Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication. Flexibility. Judgement. Organized. Team player.
