Zone: Western Zone Location: Health & Community Services Western Treatment Attendant IIA Western Zone - Humberwood Temp Call-In Hours (12 hours, 8 hours; Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, On-Call) 0800-2000, 1400-2200, 1600-2400 and 2000-0800 hours Salary CGCU29 (CAD27.07 - CAD30.07 per hour) Competition Number VAC0001478 Posted Date 2024-10-08 Closing Date 2024-10-15 Demands, duties, qualifications Definition of Work: The Treatment Attendant provides basic rehabilitation services through emotional support, supervision, security and custodial services to clients in an inpatient alcohol-drug/gambling treatment unit. As part of a treatment team, the incumbent acts as companion and confidant to residents, assists in the resolution of client conflicts, delivers educational sessions and coordinates after-hours program activities, and observes clients for signs of drug use and/or withdrawal symptoms.Qualifications: Knowledge of addictions treatment and the ability to work independently and manage crisis situations are required. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills as well as good organizational abilities and presentation skills are also required. Candidates must possess either an undergraduate degree in one of the social sciences, a college diploma in addictions, or have graduated from a practical nursing program. Work experience in a field related to the care and guidance of individuals experiencing problems with alcohol/drug abuse and/or gambling addiction is required.
