We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced *Financial Controller* to support our continued growth and operational excellence.
*Job Summary*
The Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the company's financial processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial reporting. Working closely with the CFO, the Financial Controller will provide strategic insights, lead financial planning, and maintain a robust control environment, supporting the company?s mission and objectives.
*Key Responsibilities*
* *Financial Reporting and Compliance*
* Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring alignment with Canadian GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
* Develop, implement, and maintain financial reporting systems and internal controls to safeguard assets.
* Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations and manage the tax filing processes.
* *Budgeting and Forecasting*
* Lead the annual budgeting process, working with department heads to ensure alignment with company goals.
* Prepare and present monthly forecasts, variance analyses, and financial projections to senior management.
* Provide analysis and insights on business performance, identifying key drivers and improvement opportunities.
* *Cost Management and Profitability Analysis*
* Oversee cost accounting practices, including project costing and inventory management.
* Analyze margins and profitability by service lines, regions, and projects.
* Partner with operations to improve financial performance and implement cost-saving measures.
* *Cash Flow and Treasury Management*
* Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient working capital and optimize funding strategies.
* Maintain relationships with financial institutions and manage banking arrangements, including debt facilities.
* *Team Leadership and Development*
* Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration.
* Provide guidance and training to ensure adherence to best practices in accounting and financial management.
* Coordinate with HR and operations to manage payroll functions effectively across multiple provinces.
* *Financial Systems and Process Improvement*
* Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, leveraging technology to increase efficiency and accuracy.
* Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and other finance tools, coordinating with IT as needed.
*Qualifications*
* CPA designation required.
* Minimum of 4-8 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with experience as a Financial Controller or senior financial role.
* Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
* Experience in a multi-provincial company, is desired.
* Proven track record of process improvement and team development.
