*Shanghai Construction Group Canada Corporation *is a Construction Company for Building and Tunneling. Now we are hiring a Full time Journeyman Welder for the Tunneling Division.
*Job Responsibilities:*
* Able to perform various welding techniques, including but not limited to MIG, TIG, and Stick, to join metal components as per project specifications
* Able to conduct welding work in a confined space/ underground tunnel condition
* Ensure the quality of welds by inspecting workpieces for accuracy and conformance to project standards
* Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment
* Interpret and work from construction blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to determine project requirements.
* Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
* Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces.
* Work closely with fellow team members, including general laborers, Foreman, superintend and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
* Identify and troubleshoot welding issues, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal results.
* Responsible for various administrative tasks including filling out Field Level Hazard Assessment, toolbox, timesheet etc.
* Willingly to provide mentorship and guidance to trainees and less experienced welders
* Other duties may be assigned as required by the site
*Qualifications:*
* Required Valid Red Seal Certificate or Alberta Certified Journeyman
* Proficiency in English, required for daily work communication
* A 2 years of welding experience in a confined space environment will be an asset
* Must be able to pass pre-employment medical and drug screening
* Safety tickets are an asset (examples: Fall Protection, Confined Space and H2S, CSTS)
*Schedule:*
* 8-hour shift
* Monday to Friday
* Potential Overtime
* Night shift as required
