Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Cold/refrigerated. Dangerous. Hot. Outdoors. Work setting: Commercial. Industrial. Residential. Installation. Building construction materials. Tasks: Determine type of glass, frames and material required. Measure, mark and cut glass. Position and secure panes in frame. Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products. Install door, window and other hardware. Repair glass doors and other glass structures. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Transport cases of glass. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Type of glass/materials: Acrylic plexiglass. Float glass. Mirrors. Sealed units. Frame fabrication and installation: Curtain wall (stock length material). Curtain wall (prefabricated material). Spandrel panel installations. Aluminum framing members. Entranceways. Glass cutting equipment and techniques: Cutting wheels. Self-lubricating cutters. Circular cutters. Cut glass plate manually (straight cuts). Bend glass. Edge glass plates. Etch glass. Notch glass plates. Laminate glass. Paint glass. Sandblast decal designs on glass. Temper glass. Tint glass. Installation specialization: Skylights and slope glazed installations. Curtain walls. Stained glass installations. Walls and other interior areas (i.e. partitions). Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling.
