Property Manager for Deep Quong Non-Profit Homes Inc.
*Organization:* Deep Quong Non-Profit Homes Inc, Licensed Rooming House.
*Location:* 106 Beverly Street, Toronto, Ontario M5T 1Y2
*Job Type:* Permanent position, with three-month probation.
*Salary:* $55 000 - $65 000 based on experience and training to be provided.
*Anticipated Start Date:* ASAP
*Terms of Employment:* Position is full-time permanent position with benefits following a three-month probation.
*Description:* We are a 64-unit transitional rooming house in a heritage mansion, with rooftop and private gardens, centrally located downtown (near Grange Park and the Art Gallery of Ontario), with shared kitchens, bathrooms and common recreational spaces. The goal is to provide safe, affordable, well-maintained housing for individuals who have experienced homelessness or housing insecurity.
*Purpose of Position:* To maintain a friendly communal home for tenants and a safe and healthy work environment for staff and contractors by effectively carrying out the policies and programs of Deep Quong Non-Profit Homes Inc. as mandated by the by-laws and relevant legislation.
*Qualifications: *Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, particularly with high-needs tenants. Must be proficient in; computer skills (MS Office suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, HM Worx, CCTV, etc) multitasking, be welcoming of residents' needs and responsive to complaints, HR, team building and leadership.
*Education:* Certificate in Property Management or equivalent preferred (copy of credentials required); training available for intermediate candidates.
*Experience:* Experience in Social Housing sector or Non-profit Management is preferred; training available for intermediate candidates.
*Job Training:* Additional job-related training to be provided by the Employer.
*Languages:* Speak, read and write English fluently.
*Security and Safety:* Police check required, Vulnerable Sector Screening.
*Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities*: Fast-paced, tight deadlines, attention to detail. Must be mobile throughout residential premises, interior and exterior for daily site inspections, to assign and assess staff work plans, to meet with and assist tenants.
*Physical Work Space:* Cosy office, A/C, open door policy, likelihood of tenants stopping in throughout workday.
*Physical Environment:* Shared housing will have possible exposure to messy or unsanitary conditions; may come in contact with biohazards, pests; may experience noise, dust, mould, unpleasant odours, fumes, etc. and all-weather outdoor conditions.
*Social Environment:* Friendly, community-oriented residential rooming house environment, Knowledge of and willingness to undergo training to work in adverse conditions including working with tenants with challenging or antisocial behaviours.
*Tenant Relations:* Be available for tenant exchanges in office and throughout building; tenants may have mental health, addictions, concurrent disorders and associated behaviours. Schedule move-ins and move-outs; Maintain tenant files and waiting lists; Ensure that the approved process for tenant selection is being carried out and is compliant to housing eligibility guidelines and the Human Rights Code. Administers the Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGi) program in accordance with requirements; Administers the provisions under the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), including the initiation and implementation of legal action as may be required, and makes residents aware of their rights under the RTA; Coordinate community social events; Responds to tenants? complaints and problems and provides conflict resolution when required.
*Administrative:* Report directly to the Board and attend board meetings; Ensures that the organization is managed in accordance with all legal requirements and its by-laws; Facilitates all aspects of the Corporation?s work; Manages and maintains all information systems necessary to operate the Corporation on a day-to-day basi
